Beau Soleil
2024, Approx. 3' x 3' x 3' | .91 x .91 x .91 3D printed post-industrial plastic and stainless steel
Beau Soleil is 3D printed out of post-industrial medical-grade plastic. It is a permanent outdoor sculpture commissioned by Kingsbrae Gardens in New Brunswick, Canada. It was installed with Kingsbrae’s fantastic team and my artist collaborator and husband, Marshall Coles. I created Beau Soleil by capturing the geometry of Beau Soleil oyster shells using a high-resolution 3D scanner, then composed the scans to create the form in 3D modeling software to 3D print the piece as a single object using a large-format 3D printer. It took almost a month to print.
